The Chamber has launched Operation Run-Up – a raft of festive plans to create a Christmassy feel across the town, aiming to get people to stay safe and shop local after lockdown. Plans include:

  • A shopping ‘Advent Calendar’ – the Chamber is looking for just one offer from local businesses to add to a consumer-facing virtual advent calendar which will go live on 2nd If businesses don’t have a product or service that will work as an offer, they can always sponsor one to show their support.
  • £50 reward voucher prize draw – starting on 2nd December, shoppers can enter the draw after making six purchases in local businesses and receiving six stamps on a reward card. Cards can be deposited at the West Street Post Office for entry into the draw and the winner will get voucher to be spent only at a Haslemere outlet. The Chamber will fund the reward voucher and supply cards and stickers to participating businesses. The prize draw will take place on 21st
  • Small Business Saturday falls on 5th December and the Chamber is looking to arrange festive music and mulled wine and mince pie stalls in the Town Centre and Wey Hill areas. Mulled wine will be supplied in special, branded cups sponsored by the Town Council and the Chamber.
  • festive stickers will be supplied for local retailers to use, thanking people for shopping locally.

Chamber President, Craig McGowan said: “Christmas is coming and COVID-19 means we will need to do things differently to highlight the fantastic range of shops and services available in our town. While 2020 will be remembered as the most difficult year to operate a business in recent memory, the Chamber believes that we don’t need to lose the festive spirit. Although we know we’re going to be in lockdown until 2nd December, we want to get a head-start on planning for the final few weeks before Christmas and we’d love businesses to get involved.”

All the initiatives outlined in ‘Operation Run-Up are open to Chamber members and non-members. For more information about how to get involved email: President@haslemerechamber.co.uk
