Chamber Committee member Tom Pearse is undertaking a tough new cycling challenge to raise funds for local youngster Will Rios. 10 year old Wills has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and has lost the ability to walk. He now needs a downstairs bedroom and bathroom and Tom’s challenge will raise funds to help the family make the much-needed changes to their home.

On Sunday 13th June, Tom will be cycling (off road as much as possible) from Haslemere to Ilfracombe in Devon via Salisbury, Bridgwater & Glastonbury – just over 215 miles over 4 days. Tom said: “Will’s has already had help from some amazing local people who have helped raise money to buy his off road wheel chair. We just need to finish the last part of the puzzle to give Wills as much independence as possible with his new bedroom and bathroom.”

The route Tom has chosen has been described as ‘Difficult’ and for an ‘Expert gravel rider with very good fitness’ with approximately 13,300 feet of climbing it’s not going to be easy.
