The Chamber and Haslemere Town Council have teamed up to form the #HeartOfHaslemere campaign to get the town back to business in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign encourages people to stay safe and shop local as lockdown restrictions are eased across the country.
The Chamber has sponsored recyclable, branded paper cups and colourful bunting for commercial areas. Chamber members and town hall staff have been out and about delivering the cups and bunting to local businesses. Thursday 23rd July 2020 saw a gathering of some of the main players involved in the design, supply and distribution of the promotional items.
As part of the #HeartOfHaslemere campaign, planning is underway for an open day on Saturday 15th August to celebrate all our local businesses have to offer. The date coincides with the 75thanniversary of VJ Day, after plans to celebrate VE Day in May were cancelled because of COVID-19.
The Chamber and the Town Council are asking retailers within Haslemere and surrounding villages to participate in creating a fun day which will bring shoppers into local shops, and spread the message that Haslemere is ‘Back in Business’. The Town Council will be obtaining a street trading license for the Town Centre, Wey Hill and Beacon Hill. Traders are invited to put a stall outside their premises for the day. More information about the open day will be released shortly.
