Networking became a major topic of discussion at last week’s Chamber Committee meeting as members debated plans for future events.
Given the Chamber’s main aim is to foster economic development in and around Haslemere, it was felt that networking was a fundamental tool in the process of building the local economy.
The Committee noted that flagging support for some events indicated a clear need for overhauling the approach to the members’ programme.
As a first step, the Committee decided to move the regular month-end get-together to the last THURSDAY of the month, rebranding it as ‘Chamber Drinks’ and introducing various networking techniques – including a business card draw. The Committee is exploring ideas for top-notch speakers with the pulling power to replicate some of the best-attended events of recent years.
There will soon be a survey of members to help the Committee assess specific areas of interest for knowledge sharing and the best times of day to attract a large number of attendees.
