The Chamber Committee met on 7th August and here are the headlines.
Business Barometer: The Committee was delighted with the good response to the business barometer and the output has been shared with various government departments, with Waverley Borough Council and, of course, the media. Watch out for the September barometer survey so we can keep Haslemere at the forefront of business and economic planning. And don’t forget that the Bank of England Representative will be at a Chamber event later in the year to hear your views – details to follow.
BID: The planning process for BID is now well underway – did you see the article in the Haslemere Herald? The next BID meeting, which will be open to all, is on 1st October and we hope to see as many people there as possible. Details to follow soon. In the meantime a working group has been formed and business planning for BID is top of their agenda.
Security in Haslemere: The Committee is conscious of business concerns about security in Haslemere. Despite our best efforts we were not able to make CCTV work for the town so we are now in the throes of planning for a Security Event later in the year with a range of experts available to provide advice and answer your questions. Once we have more details we will be sharing them with you. Meanwhile we will keep you updated as our plans develop.
Membership Survey: Your responses to our membership survey in March were very helpful to the Committee. There will be a new membership survey in the Autumn – please contribute so we can ensure we know what our membership are thinking and how best to represent you.
External Meetings: The Chamber President holds regular meetings with the Mayor of Haslemere, with other Waverley Chambers of Trade & Commerce and with representatives of Waverley Borough Council. Those meetings are an important way for us to keep Haslemere at the forefront of minds and for us to know what is coming down the track towards us.
