The Hindhead Boxing Day Run, which raises money for Holy Cross Hospital in Haslemere is all set to return this year.
Registration is now open for people who want to enter the Men’s or Ladies’ category, or the ever-popular drinking run which includes a pint of winter ale two miles into the race.
Describing the course, run organiser Matt Dellar says: “The 3.5-mile run starts at the Devil’s Punchbowl Hotel and takes in Hindhead Commons which includes Gibbet Hill and the Devil’s Punchbowl. You can expect some hilly terrain, uneven tracks, mud if it is wet, beautiful countryside, a great atmosphere and lots of fun!
“It costs £13 or £15 to enter and tickets can be booked online at www.boxingdayrun.org. As COVID is still causing an element of uncertainty, we’ve decided that if the run does have to be cancelled, we will not offer refunds but instead, we will donate 100% of profits to Holy Cross Hospital which is the charity we have supported for the past 23 years.”
Holy Cross Hospital is a specialist hospital for highly dependent patients who need individualised care due to neurological conditions following strokes, head injuries and other incidents.
Dr Ross White, Chief Executive at Holy Cross Hospital says: “Over the years, the Boxing Day Run has raised over £50,000 for Holy Cross. The money has been spent on projects and equipment that provide a direct benefit to patients. Everybody at Holy Cross is extremely grateful to Matt and the hundreds of runners who turn out on Boxing Day in fancy dress or running kits to burn off their Christmas dinner and raise money for the hospital.”
The run starts at 11am. Entry numbers and race timing chips which are provided by Race Time Solutions can be picked up between 9.30am and 10.30am from the Devil’s Punchbowl Hotel.
