Our rebooted Breakfast Club kicked off with a bang on Thursday 7 November when 21 of us gathered to hear Tim Butler of Innovation Visual lead us through six ways to make a website perform better.
Tim’s main points were:
+ Know your numbers: How many visitors does your website get every month? How many leads does it generate?
+ Ensure it’s HTTPS: From 17 October this year, Google is now alerting people when a website isn’t over HTTPS: the encrypted standard for websites.
+ Ensure your website is fully mobile friendly
+ Keep your content current. No blog posts for months says to your potential customers that you haven’t got anything interesting to say and that you are not going anywhere as a business
+ Help don’t sell. Don’t have a website that is a bland brochure rattling off the corporate message. Create content that helps, not sells.
+ Include calls to action: Just because your website is focused on being helpful doesn’t mean you don’t include calls to action.

The session included the opportunity for discussion and questions and an exercise to look at our own websites and objectives.
We discussed how using the Chamber’s website directory listing, news page, and Newsletter can form part of your online strategy to spread your message across Haslemere.
The session was well received with feedback comments such as: “Very thought provoking”, “very useful topic” and “good talk, reassuring”.
Join us next month on Thursday 7 December when the topic will be “Making the most of Twitter and Instagram”, led by Narn of Tweeting by Hand. Click HERE to book your place.
