Haslemere Chamber’s plan to improve communication among members – and with the wider community – has taken a major step forward with this week’s launch of its new website.

With a more advanced platform and greater functionality, the site makes it easier for the Chamber and members to publish words and pictures as news, special offers, job opportunities and details of events.

The site is a free service for members and it has an enhanced facility to showcase business profiles.

Another new feature is an online membership application system. First person to try it was Gianna Shinozawa, proprietor of Lower Street newcomer, Adiva Boutique. She is pictured with Chamber President David Goddin, who was on hand to watch her complete the application.

David Goddin says: “We are keen to expand Chamber membership because it means we can speak for a larger part of the business community and deliver more services.

“With the new website we are able to spell out the membership proposition more effectively and provide a more businesslike application and online payment process.

“The site is the centrepiece of the Chamber’s communication and marketing activities. It gives us enormous flexibility to promote the Chamber, individual members and the Haslemere area. I would encourage all members to make frequent use of the site and use it to drive traffic to their own websites.

“We will be striving to keep the site prominent in search engine rankings so that anyone who searches online for Haslemere will quickly discover that we have a diverse and exciting business community.

“We will also be using our social media channels and the weekly Chamber Newsletter to encourage members – and the public – to use the site.

“It’s a dynamic site and we expect to see many changes in its structure and content. The site is very easy to use, but if necessary we will run ‘how to’ sessions to help members make the most of the new communication opportunities.”
