Retailers and other businesses with a suitable ‘shop window’ are invited to take part in the annual window dressing competition, organised by the Royal Society of St George (RSoSG) as part of the St George’s Day celebrations on 23 April.
There are three themes this year’s best dressed window, two reflecting the important centenaries, currently being celebrated across the UK: the Suffragette Movement and the End of the Great War. The third theme is, of course, St George and the Dragon.
And there’s more to the event than window-dressing – although there is a prize for the business judged to have made the best effort.
Participating businesses may issue raffle tickets to customers over 18 if they spend more than £5. And there’s a case of sparkling wine in store for the lucky winner.
As usual, St George and the Dragon will be on hand in Haslemere to mingle with shoppers and to distribute roses sponsored by the Chamber.
Businesses that have not already indicated their intention to participate in this year’s window-dressing competition should do so as soon as possible by contacting Shirley Hankers, Joint Honorary President of the RSoSG Haslemere branch. Please contact her by email or phone 01202 861578. Alternatively (and for raffle tickets) contact Nick Hinchliffe on 07808 078 131.
