Managers at Holy Cross Hospital have paid special thanks to their international workforce during the recent International Nurses’ Day.

In an afternoon packed full of fun and celebrations, the nurses took part in games, a quiz and memory games. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Nurses’ Awards.

In the days leading up to International Nurses’ Day, nurses from each of the Hospital’s departments voted for the health care assistant and registered nurse that they felt deserved special recognition. The winners of the nurses’ awards were presented with a gift voucher by the Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Hinton.

Speaking after the presentation, Christopher Hinton said: “All our nurses are worthy of recognition for the wonderful work they do and the positive difference they make to our patients’ quality of life. It was a great honour to present prizes to the nurses and health care assistants who had been voted by their peers as being an inspiration to all.

“We have been celebrating International Nurses’ Day for a number of years because, without our truly international workforce, we would not be able to provide the standard of care upon which we have built our reputation. On behalf of the Sisters and all my colleagues, I would like to thank our nurses for all that they do.”
