After 15 years of treating patients and advising on their care, Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine Dr Phillip McCluskie has retired from Holy Cross Hospital in Haslemere.
He initially trained as an orthopaedic surgeon before becoming a specialist in rehabilitation medicine. In 1998 Dr McCluskie was appointed as consultant in rehabilitation medicine to Surrey PCT. He was the consultant lead in the brain injury unit and held outpatient clinics dealing with disability and spasticity.
During his time at Holy Cross Hospital, Dr McCluskie has seen the hospital embrace modern practices and advances in technology to help provide the best care and treatment for patients with extremely complex needs caused by profound injury or a serious neurological condition.
“I have always loved coming to Holy Cross,” says Dr McCluskie. “It has been an honour to work alongside a marvellous team including Sister Mary Agnes who has had special responsibility for the Hospital and has been a great force for good. Since the arrival of the pandemic, the team has faced some very testing times, but they have all risen to the challenge and have behaved magnificently.”
Dr Ross White, Chief Executive at Holy Cross Hospital says: “Dr McCluskie has been a highly valued member of our team and we will miss his expertise, care and commitment to working with patients to maximise their functional recovery and independence. We wish him all the very best for the start of this new chapter in his life.”
Dr McCluskie will be succeeded by Dr Kath Pasco who is a consultant in stroke medicine.
