Haslemere Museum has recently been awarded additional funding towards their innovative project to provide outreach reminiscence sessions in care homes and day centres for people with dementia. Community Foundation for Surrey has provided grants from the Cyrus Fund, The Pargiter Trust Fund and Haslemere Challice Community Fund to support this project for another year.

Although Haslemere is fortunate enough to be bucking this trend with retail vacancy rates of only 3 – 5%, many retailers are under significant cost pressures. Our planning for a brighter future for our high street starts on the 20th September. We need as many constructive ideas as possible, so this meeting is open to Chamber members AND guests. The inaugural Brighton Capel Monster took place on Saturday 30 June and saw 47 riders cycle from Brighton to the village of Capel and back again. The total distance covered was 85 miles (125 kilometres).

Chapterhouse Theatre Company will be performing an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility in the glorious setting of the Museum’s gardens on Wednesday 25 July. The theatre company is now in its 19th year of touring open-air theatre to stunning country houses, castles and heritage sites across the UK and Ireland.
